I just discovered today that the new YouTube comments design allows users to use some degree of markdown in their comments on videos. For instance, placing underscores around words and phrases makes them italicized:
_italics_
Placing asterisks around words and phrases makes them bold:
*bold*
Kind of nice I guess.

ya its good thanks
ReplyDeletePlease ignore - testing *bold*, _italics_ and -strike through-
DeleteIf I want *two* bold *words* it doesn't work
Fist good change Google has ever made to Youtube
ReplyDeleteHow about strike throughs?
ReplyDeleteNope.
DeleteDashes.
DeleteNone of the conventional ways of making a dash with markdown seem to work.
Delete-strikethrough-
DeleteAh, that does indeed work. Thank you.
DeleteHere I am exactly 1 year later, learning how to do italics. I find that pretty funny.
ReplyDeleteSame.. I'm writing my fanon for some Undertale fan game, and I wanted to use it so there ya go. (If you even see this reply, and I doubt it)
DeleteI saw your reply. _TEST_
DeleteHow about the "blink" tag?
DeleteThanks, I've been using CAPITALS instead of *bold* and _italics_ for years!
ReplyDelete-your mom-
ReplyDelete_your mom_
*my mom*
*bold*
ReplyDeleteThank you!
ReplyDelete*bold*
_italics_
-thatcrossoutthingy-
Thatcrossoutthingy = strike through :)
DeleteBut is there any way to use two at once? *_Like so_*
ReplyDeleteyes there is, go ahead and try it.
DeleteHow can I write a link, please? In the past, one could write a YT URL and the video's title appeared. Now it is not possible, because one cannot even paste a copied link, or anything else.
ReplyDeleteHave you tried using a shortcut url?
DeleteYes, nothing changes. The main problem is that one cannot paste anything in the comments. Only in the replies.
DeleteThanks, anyway.
You can paste in using Google Chrome. As far as I know, only Internet Explorer will not let you paste at YT.
DeleteI will try. Currently I am using Mozilla Firexox.
DeleteThanks once again.
For your information, paste is possible again in YT also with Mozilla.
DeleteDoes it work for the app though? (Probably doesn't but it doesn't always hurt to ask..)
ReplyDeleteTo which app are you referring?
DeleteProbably referring to the Youtube app.
DeleteYes it works when using YouTube app!
DeleteIs it possibly to use three at once? Like; *_-awesome-_*
ReplyDeleteSure.
DeleteThere is a new thing where the letters are half cut.how?
